Dear friends and members of Royal Canadian Legion #638,
Our legion functions solely on the good will of volunteers. Every position and job at the legion is performed by members without monetary recompense. Our events are staffed and run by volunteers.
Unfortunately, it seems to be the same small core of people who volunteer to help at our events, and who help with all the duties and responsibilities that go with running a successful organization. This year we have had to refuse to hold private events at our legion because of the dearth of volunteers to help out.
The profit we make from holding our legion events, as well as the private events for which we rent out the hall and often cater and provide bar staff, provide the funds that pay the bills to keep our legion functioning.
We need you. If you can help out once a year, once a month, or more often, we would appreciate your volunteering. I will be occasionally sending out requests for assistance at some of our functions. If you can help, do not be too shy to volunteer. We will train you if need be.
Please consider helping our legion be the success it has the potential to be. We cannot do it without your help.
